Course Description
Defense Against the Dark Arts (Technology Edition)

This course will introduce students to disciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives on the development and use of technology. Through this course, we will become more aware of threats technology poses in our everyday lives and discuss how students can be better prepared to defend themselves.
Students will explore their own relationship with technology and how technology affects their lives in positive and negative ways, while we address common issues in technology design and use such as bias, accuracy of machine learning algorithms, copyright issues, surveillance and threat to privacy, psychological impact of social media, security threats, behavior manipulation through tech design, and cultural differences in technology use in different countries.
